At Capital Area Transit, we are all about people. Whether it’s a ride to work, to the doctor, to the grocery store or to a senior center, our drivers make a difference in the lives of passengers every day.
Mobility changes lives. Be the change. Provide a ride.
Our paratransit drivers make a difference in our community by serving local seniors, persons with disabilities, veterans, and vulnerable families. A CDL is not a requirement to drive these smaller shuttle buses.
Fixed Route Driver
Our riders depend on fixed route drivers to maintain employment, go to school, access food and medical care and so much more! Applicants for fixed route must have a valid CDL with passenger endorsement.
We’re seeking people who are passionate about the customer experience. Our customer service representatives serve our riders by providing service information, booking paratransit trips, giving accurate fixed route information to riders and answering questions.
We depend on a skilled group to support our fleet and our community. General servicing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and making minor repairs are some of the daily responsibilities of the team that keeps us running. Positions based locally.
Capital Area Transit has a wide variety of rewarding administration careers; from accounting to dispatch, human resources to mobility planning, and more!
When you work for Capital Area Transit, you’re driving change. We often take for granted the ability to travel to everyday locations – a place to buy milk, receive an immunization, or maintain employment. Without these connections, we cannot provide for our basic needs or dare to explore our future. Providing a ride shapes our neighbors and directly impacts their lives.
Stability & Service Area
45% of Capital Area Transit employees have been with our company for 10 years or more! We have 180 staff members that service our community. With a diversity of employment options, find the area that fits for you.
Health & Well-Being
Our employees are our most important asset. Our robust benefits package includes pension, 457 Plan, comprehensive coverage for health care, employer provided short term disability & life insurance, paid time off and holiday time.
Caring for Our Communities
We created our own 501(c)(3) non-profit, 3P Ride, to deliver more people, to more places, for more possibilities. Focused on veterans transportation, access to food and access to medical care, we aid vulnerable families, older adults and persons with disabilities who would otherwise fall through the cracks of traditional transportation funding.
Capital Area Transit realizes that good public service is responsible public service, and as a regional public transit system, we know that we must be environmentally conscious. Not only are green practices better for the environment, they’re better for operations, often leading to improvements in efficiency, supply costs and reduced waste.
Capital Area Transit is always looking for new ways to lead the transportation industry. We are driven to be innovative and often test products and programs across the state. We have invested in cutting-edge technology and equipment to provide you with the tools you need to succeed.
